RAGE Training and NorCal Competitions Canceled Through the Month of April

2020-04-01T10:19:05-07:00March 12th, 2020|

While things certainly remain fluid, US Club Soccer determined today that based on federal recommendations, all in person soccer activities will continue to be suspended through at least April 30th.  We hope to return to the field in early May, but will continue to follow the lead of the CDC, state and local public health agencies, as well as our soccer governing bodies.  Based upon the mandates and recommendations of these agencies, we will update you as more is learned later in April.

At this stage NorCal Premier Soccer is considering several contingency plans, including an extension of the Spring competition season through the Summer, cancellation of the season altogether, and how the tryout/placement window will be handled if we are unable to conduct placements as planned in May.  Additionally, they are considering potential refunds based upon if and when the season resumes.  They will not be able to make this determination however, until a firm return-to-play date is established and potential season extension confirmed.  If we are refunded any of these competition related fees, we will certainly pass them back to our members and communicate that process as soon as we learn more.  The same is true for the ECNL, who is continuing to assess whether games and events will be cancelled or postponed.  That said, we will return to ECNL competition no earlier than May 4th, as our ECNL games on May 2nd and 3rd will no longer take place at that time.  We will also be able to address the handling of any previously collected travel funds once we receive confirmation regarding future ECNL events being cancelled versus postponed/rescheduled.

We are very pleased with the interaction and distance learning we’ve been able to conduct between our coaches and players over the past 2 weeks. Through the month of April, we will continue with this development platform and structure in order to take advantage of the opportunity to partner with our players in the following areas: growing their soccer IQ with our weekly match analysis and other tactical assignments; building their technical skills with assigned ball workouts; and maintaining fitness levels with our weekly workout assignments.  Additionally, our team video conference calls have been an important way for our coaches and players to check in on each other and maintain our team and community bonds.  Our coaches have been working hard to teach your daughters in this new sphere, and we thank them for their efforts in learning new technologies to optimize player development and create a positive experience for you.

We thank you for your partnership in these trying times and look forward to seeing you all out on the pitch as soon as we are able.  In the meantime, we wish you, your families and loved ones optimal health and safety.

Pleasanton, CA, May 1, 2019 – Pleasanton RAGE announced that, after a national search, Erin Sharpe has been named their new Director of Coaching (DoC) beginning July 15, 2019. Erin joins the club from San Juan Soccer Club in Rancho Cordova, CA, where she is currently the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) Director.

Erin will succeed Philippe Blin, long-time Director of Coaching for Pleasanton RAGE, who is planning to retire in the summer of 2020 after 20 years with the club. In his final year, Philippe will take on an advisory role as DoC Emeritus and will coach the RAGE ‘05 ECNL team.

As Director of Coaching, Erin will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the soccer operations of the club, including staff development and player development for the competitive and recreational programs.

“It is an honor to have the privilege to succeed an exceptional leader in Philippe Blin and to join the RAGE team and family,” said Erin Sharpe. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of one of the preeminent all-girls clubs in the country and very excited for this next chapter.  I look forward to working with the players, families and coaches in the RAGE community and to upholding the exceptional mission, values and holistic approach to whole player development that RAGE embraces. I would like to thank everyone at San Juan Soccer Club for their support throughout the years.  I look forward to continuing to elevate the level of soccer in the RAGE community and to empowering our amazing young women both on and off of the field.”

“We are thrilled to have Erin join RAGE,” said Jon Asmussen, President of the Board of Directors of Pleasanton RAGE. “Not only has Erin demonstrated success developing teams and coaches during her tenure at San Juan, she has embraced and led initiatives aligned with our mission to empower girls to reach their full potential through soccer, service, and leadership. RAGE will be forever grateful to Philippe for the players and families he has impacted so positively over two decades as our DoC. We look forward to Erin leading us into the future.”

Erin is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she played goalkeeper and won a National Championship with the Broncos in 2001. Erin also played semi-professionally in Switzerland. Following her playing career, she joined San Juan Soccer Club as a Head Coach and in 2008 coached their u14 girls team, who went on to win the USYS National Championship that year.  Erin has developed several national pool players, as well as multiple regional and state Olympic Development Program (ODP), Player Development Program (PDP) and id2 players.

From 2008-2013, Erin was Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Colorado Mesa University/Mesa State College and was Co-Founder, Girl’s Director of Coaching, and Head Coach, for Colorado West Select Soccer Club from 2011-2014. She earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sport Management from Colorado Mesa University in 2012.

In 2014, Erin returned to San Juan Soccer Club as ECNL Director and Head Coach where she oversees the ECNL coaching staff and the club teaching methodology. In each of the last 4 seasons, the San Juan ECNL program has had an ECNL Divisional Conference Champion, several teams advance to the National Finals, and all eligible ECNL teams advance to the National Playoffs.  She has also been the lead College Placement Advisor for approximately 120 female players annually, with over 90% placement success rate in the ECNL program.

Erin is also currently a NorCal Premier PDP State Staff Coach and Chair of the NorCal Premier Women’s Executive Committee. She holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) A license (2017) and United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Advanced National (2011) and National Diplomas (2009).
