RAGE U13 dominates in the sand
The U13AC girls took home the Santa Cruz Beach Soccer Championship Trophy last weekend, with members from both the U13AC team and the U13D3 Orange team playing. Coach Tim Bordley split the group into two teams, with offensive players forming one team (Rage White), and defensive players forming the other team (Rage Orange). The Rage White team consisted of Rachel, Myranda, Kyra, Maddie, Nicole, Devon, Natalie, and Liz. Rage White steamrolled through their bracket, winning all three games by a combined score of 18-7. White was on to the Semi-Finals where they had to face Rage Orange (made up of Kalyn, Lauren, Jaimie, Haley, Ally, Kailey, Kendall, Jordan and Jackie), who had gone 2-1-1 in their very difficult bracket play. The Semi-Final was extremely well played, with the girls battling it out. In the end, Rage Orange was able to mount a 3-1 win. In the Finals, Rage Orange defeated the Eureka Flames 2-1 to become Tournament Champions.
The Orange team was so exhausted (6 games over the weekend, including 4 on Sunday with only one sub), that they bypassed the closing ceremonies and requested their trophy and medals be delivered to them at the field (which the parents happily accommodated). The weekend was a huge success by both teams and all players, and everyone had a fantastic and fun Fathers Day weekend in Santa Cruz. Great job girls!!!!!!

RAGE Wins the US Youth Soccer Farwest Regional Championship!
The U-18 Pleasanton Rage defeated the So Cal Blues 4-0 today, to win the US Youth Soccer Farwest Regional Championships in Lancaster, Ca. A persistent Blues team kept the Rage off the scoreboard until the 42nd minute, when forward Maddie Payne headed in the first of her two goals, off a cross from Carlee Payne (no relation). She also scored two goals the day before.
Ahsha Smith launched an incredible 30 yard slice that bounced off the far post and in, for the Rage's second goal, which got the crowd really buzzing. Ahsha's goal capped an incredible 6 game consecutive scoring streak by scoring in every game !
The Blues, now desperate, began pushing their goalkeeper into the offensive attack. This risky strategy finally caught with them when Olivia Klei broke free and slow rolled a ball through the 18 yard box and into a waiting empty net.
The Rage defense also recorded their fourth straight shutout, led by Rachel McGlinchy, Ashlyn Mazur, Sammie Cloutier, Sophie Metz and standout Goalkeeper Maddie Fox.
The Rage outscored their opponents 32-2, finishing off an amazing week of solid offensive and defensive dominance that left no question who was the superior team in the west.
They will now represent Division IV at the US Youth Soccer National Championships next month in Lancaster, MA. July 20 - 25.

RAGE Announces Affiliation with ECNL
The Pleasanton Rage has announced it’s affiliation with the Elite Club National League for it’s U15 through U17 Premier Teams. The following is an excerpt from a TopDrawerSoccer.com article previewing the ECNL.
“The club list for the Elite Club National League has been announced, and it contains a number of the heavyweight clubs for girls' soccer in the U.S. The league, slated to begin next year as a precursor to a girls' academy program, similar to the USSF Development Academy for boys but not affiliated with that organization, is replacing the Red Bull National League that has operated for the past two years, but is much larger in scope than that effort.
"The ECNL is a great step for elite girls youth players in this country," ECNL President Christian Lavers, of FC Milwaukee, said in the release. "The ECNL is founded on the concept that elite female player development in the United States needs a structure that will reduce the total number of games on the schedule and increase the number of meaningful, quality games. The ECNL sets forth a vision that gives us a clear path to that goal –a national competition schedule and a national identification program linked to that competition."
