2022 RAGE Scholarship Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement and Service to the Community

Each year, Pleasanton RAGE Girls Soccer Club recognizes and rewards scholar-athletes who demonstrate RAGE excellence in academic achievement and service to the community. Two $2,000.00 scholarships for college are awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend a 4-year or 2-year college, or a vocational or art school, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher. Applicants are considered based on the following criteria: academic achievement; commitment to volunteerism/service; and number of years playing for RAGE. In addition, an essay is submitted defining one of the RAGE core values (Respect, Attitude, Greatness, Expectations) and explaining how the value is learned while playing soccer and serving the community.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients!

Samantha Lim

Sam Lim

Samantha has played soccer for Pleasanton RAGE for 11 years, most currently as a member of the Competitive Program on the 2003/2004 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) team.

A senior at Foothill High School, Samantha has a GPA of 4.1 and has committed to playing college soccer at Emory University where she will major in Quantitative Sciences and Business.

To date, Samantha’s awards and accomplishments include the Pleasanton Community of Character Award for Responsibility; four-year Varsity letter for both Soccer & Track, and Co-Captain her senior year; CIF President’s List for Varsity Soccer; NCS/CIF Scholar-Athlete Award; two-time East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) All-League Second Team Award recipient; Pleasanton RAGE Scholar-Athlete Award.

Equally important and inspiring is Sam’s long list of community service and outreach, specifically her involvement in the following school clubs, and also church-based programs that minister to children: Helping Hearts, as a volunteer with a mission to help end homelessness; UNICEF, as a member and an officer, participating in fundraisers and volunteering at food banks and kitchens to support an organization working to provide equal opportunities for children around the world; Vacation Bible School; Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Child; and Awana, where she spent her Friday nights teaching Bible lessons, playing games, and doing projects with children.

Samantha chose the RAGE core value “Attitude” for her essay topic.  She says that “wearing the orange jersey represents the lessons that RAGE has taught me. The most important to me being that my attitude matters more than my abilities. If I have the right mindset, improvement will follow.”

Rounding out Sadie’s excellence in academics and honors is her community volunteerism, specifically her service to the following: Pleasanton Parks & Rec Committee, as the Youth Commissioner working with City Council on issues related to facilities, programs, and services; Girl Scouts; National Charity League where she has spent the last six years volunteering many hours at and for local organizations including the Pleasanton Public Library, PPIE, Culinary Angels, Sunflower Hill, and Hively, as an elementary grade tutor during Covid.

Sadie chose the RAGE core value “Attitude” for her essay topic. She says that “attitude is key to my personality, and the influence that RAGE has had on developing a positive attitude that I can rely on day in and day out is something for which I will always be grateful.”

RAGE & HERS Limited Sweaty Bands

2021-10-21T14:39:32-07:00October 11th, 2021|

Hello RAGE Players, Families and Members,

Thank you all for the continued interest in and orders for the custom Sweaty Bands available in our “PleasantonRAGE” Etsy store.  While have sold out of the RAGE/HERS band in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we do have RAGE club only bands still available.  Additionally, while our first scheduled pickup this past Monday 10/18 at Bernal Sports Park saw many stop by, we still have several outstanding orders we’d like to “deliver” to our wonderful club members.  So, let’s schedule pickup day #2 for this upcoming Monday 10/25 at Bernal Sports Park (formerly Patelco) between 7-8:30 pm.  For those that will struggle to make this time work, please open your order within Etsy and “message” us directly from within.  From there, we’ll effort to work out an alternate plan!  That said, please do try to pop by Bernal for pickup this upcoming Monday, as it should only take a minute or two.  This includes any that would like to buy real-time at Bernal.  Again, all transactions are through our Etsy store (no cash, no checks, no venmo, etc) so you’ll need to have the app set up to buy, with your order notification to us being immediate, so we’ll just hand it to you!  (A few of you did this last Monday and the complete transaction took only a few seconds!)

As always, thanks again for your tremendous support and interest in both the RAGE/HERS and RAGE club Sweaty Bands.  See you next Monday 10/25 from 7-8:30pm at Bernal fields for pickup #2!

Thanks, RAGE
