The other day I was in the Pacific Association Championship track meet in Sacramento running the half mile. It was my second competitive track meet and my first competitive meet in the half mile. There were over 70 other runners who were seasoned track competitors. I was in the last and fastest heat based on my being a fast runner and having a fast 400 time. When the gun went off I decided to hang back like my coach said. I stayed near the back of the pack for the first lap and a half.. Then I was feeling good so decided to turn on my sprinting. I caught at least five girls. Then I came up on the one girl who everyone knows for winning so many medals. I passed her then on the final 100 meters was able to catch the last girl and win gold! My current time of 2:29 puts me in the top 10-15 nationwide. If all goes well I am going to the Junior Olympics in Florida in late July. – Lizzy. Schreiber – RAGE U12
