2025 RAGE Scholarship Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement and Service to the Community

Each year, Pleasanton RAGE Girls Soccer Club recognizes and rewards scholar-athletes who demonstrate RAGE excellence in academic achievement and service to the community. At least two $2,000.00 scholarships for college are awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend a 4-year or 2-year college or a vocational or art school and have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher. Applicants are considered based on the following criteria: academic achievement, commitment to volunteerism/service, and number of years playing for RAGE. In addition, an essay is submitted defining one of the RAGE core values (Respect, Attitude, Greatness, Expectations) and explaining how the value is learned while playing soccer and serving the community.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients!

Faith Cunha Brasil

Faith has played soccer for Pleasanton RAGE for 13 years; the last 6 years she has been a member of the Competitive Program on the 2007 ECNL-RL team.

A senior at Foothill High School, Faith has a GPA of 4.4 and is currently undecided as to where she will attend college. She plans on majoring in either Animal Science, Ecology and Evolution, or Biology.

To date, Faith’s academic honors and accomplishments include AP Scholar with Distinction; Member: National Honor Society; State Seal of Biliteracy for proficiency in Spanish;  North Coast Section (NCS)/CIF Scholar-Athlete Award; Pleasanton RAGE Scholar-Athlete Award; Captain, FHS Frosh & JV soccer teams.

Equally important and inspiring is Faith’s list of community service, specifically her involvement in the following fields of Animal Care & Environmental Advocacy and Education & Mentorship: Oakland Zoo’s Animal Ambassador Interpretation Program as a volunteer intern; Sunol Wilderness Regional Preserve as an Interpretive Student Aide; Mini Cat Town adoption service volunteer; Local Leaders Club an environmental advocacy group, partnered with the Go Green Initiative, as a 3-year member and current President; Foothill HS Tutor’s Club, as an English tutor for elementary students; Gaussian School Creative Writing Program and Teacher’s Assistant.

Faith chose the RAGE core value “Attitude” for her essay topic.  She says that she has “come to define attitude as the mindset with which we approach every event in our lives: a concept that can either make every day a dread-ridden uphill battle…, or a new opportunity to augment our knowledge, improve our skills, and demonstrate love for the people around us…. Ultimately, soccer taught me the importance of having confidence, working hard, and always maintaining a positive attitude.”

Vivialann Garcia

Vivialann has played soccer for Pleasanton RAGE for 3 years, most currently as a member of the Competitive Program on the 2007 ECNL team.

A senior at Gregori High School, Vivialann has a 4.61 GPA, and will attend UC San Diego in the Fall where she plans on majoring in Psychology.

To date, Vivialann’s academic honors and accomplishments include National Honor Society; California Scholarship Federation, Lifetime Member; Central California Athletic League (CCAL) Academic All-League for 3 seasons of soccer.

Rounding out Vivialann’s excellence in academics and honors is her community volunteerism, specifically the following projects and service performed with National Honor Society: cleaning & renovating public parks; organizing the city of Modesto’s Annual Christmas Parade; running the clothes drive to provide winter formal wear for less fortunate students; providing entertainment to the elderly in their homes; and participating in the Global Club Recycling Program.

Vivialann chose the RAGE core value “Respect” for her essay topic. She says that “RAGE taught me the importance of respect and giving back, and in turn, I work to support the community that has shaped me. These experiences not only allow me to express gratitude for my home, but also strengthen the respect I have for myself, as I take pride in the work I do to uplift those around me…. Being able to take pride in my hard work – both in soccer and in my personal life — is something I will cherish forever.”
