2021 RAGE Scholarship Award Winners
2021 RAGE Scholarship Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement and Service to the Community
Each year, Pleasanton RAGE Girls Soccer Club recognizes and rewards scholar-athletes who demonstrate RAGE excellence in academic achievement and service to the community. Two $1,500.00 scholarships for college are awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend a 4-year or 2-year college, or a vocational or art school, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher. Applicants are considered based on the following criteria: academic achievement; commitment to volunteerism/service; and a number of years playing for RAGE. In addition, an essay is submitted defining one of the RAGE core values and explaining how the value is learned while playing soccer and serving the community.
Congratulations to this year’s recipients!

Isabel Duenas
Isabel has played soccer for Pleasanton RAGE for 5 years, most currently as a member of the Competitive Program on the 2003 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) Composite team.
A senior at Castro Valley High School, Isabel has a GPA of 4.23 and is undecided as to where she will attend college although her first choice is University of California, Santa Barbara. She plans on majoring in Biology.
To date, Isabel’s academic honors and accomplishments include the Castro Valley Honor Roll Society; Latino Achievement Award; Experience Berkeley Program Participant; Society of Women’s Engineering Club Member; Castro Valley Varsity Athletic Award (GPA); North Coast Section (NCS), CIF President’s List for Varsity Soccer & Scholastic Championship Team.
Equally important and inspiring is Isabel’s long list of community service, specifically her involvement in the following: Interact Club, earning recognition for many hours serving as a volunteer at food banks & festivals, and providing childcare for young children & support for senior citizens; Castro Valley Today Internship for which she created web pages for local businesses to help promote themselves during COVID-19; CV Tutors; Transfiguration Church Youth Group; Summer Volunteer at the Oakland Zoo, and the California Academy of Sciences where she was honored by the museum director for creating and performing a visual project presentation.
Isabel chose the RAGE core value “Greatness” for her essay topic. She says that “we can all play a part in improving and helping our community through communication and collaboration,” and she is “thankful to RAGE for teaching me valuable lessons on greatness and the value of community.” Isabel will carry these lessons with her to college, and will always have the RAGE core values as inspiration to continue helping her community.
Hayden Jolley
Hayden has played soccer for Pleasanton RAGE for 13 years, most currently as a member of the Competitive Program on the 2003 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) team.
A senior at Foothill High School, Hayden has a GPA of 3.95 and has committed to playing college soccer at University of California, Riverside where she will major in either Finance, Economics, or Marketing.
To date, Hayden’s academic honors and accomplishments include member of DECA; North Coast Section, CIF Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Award, for her 4 seasons of Varsity Soccer; two-time East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) All-League Honorable Mention Award recipient.
Rounding out Hayden’s excellence in academics is her community volunteerism, specifically her service to the following: National Charity League where she has spent the last 6 years volunteering more than 300 hours at and for many local and national organizations; Girls Soccer Worldwide, as an Ambassador participated in fundraising for school supplies and collecting soccer equipment for girls in Paraguay. In her role, Hayden traveled to Coronel Bogado and spent time with the girls there, giving them the inspiration to become leaders in their own community.
Hayden chose the RAGE core value “Greatness” for her essay topic. She says that “greatness is essential in achieving success in every aspect of life while creating a legacy to inspire others. … while playing soccer for RAGE I learned how to achieve greatness by perpetually demonstrating my strengths and learning from my weaknesses, to develop my character and skill.”

RAGE IS BACK
RAGE IS BACK ON THE FIELD and week 1 is in the books!
It was a successful week back on the field in our camp format and it was a pleasure to be working with our players on the pitch once again! It was great for the girls to have fun being together again while working on ball mastery and soccer fitness! Most importantly, health and safety is always our number one priority; our environment requires that everyone is always maintaining required physical distancing, we are training in small groups and have thorough sanitation and health screening procedures. Thank you to all of the hard work from RAGE leadership and to all who have pitched in to help make our returning to the field a success! We can’t wait until next week! GO RAGE!!!!
