DIVISION 1 PREMIER and DIVISION 1 AC
WELCOME TO RAGE DIVISION 1 SOCCER ...

Click here for "About Division 1 Premier"
Division 1 (Premier) is the highest level of competitive soccer offered. Division 1 is for those players whose desire, natural ability and passion for the game make them want to develop their soccer ability to the highest level they can attain. Teams compete in the GSSL league (U10 through U11 play in the District 3 League) as well as USSL Super Y-League. Teams also attend tournaments, both in, and out of state, and are expected to be competitive in State-Cup play. At the U10 through U14 age groups continued emphasis is on developing a “love of the game” as well as development of skills needed to compete more successfully at the older ages. Division 1 players are those who have been identified as having “the right stuff” to develop into collegiate players. This division represents the highest level of commitment by both players and parents.

RAGE U11 PREMIER
RAGE U11 Santa Cruz Pro Am Beach Soccer Tournament.

The spring soccer division winning Rage U11 Premier team took home another title (and a very large trophy) over the weekend when they finished in first place at the Santa Cruz Pro Am Beach Soccer Tournament.  10 members of the team participated in the 2 day event. All five games were played on sand; the games consisted of three exhausting 12 minute periods played in temperature that reached 85 degrees.
Saturday’s 8am game was the only game played on “packed sand”, as the Rage took the field against Dublin and won it decisively 19-1. Then under the blazing sun and a very loose playing field of sand the afternoon became a little more concerning as the girls tied the Placer Pride 10-10, but thanks to careful strategy planning by beach coach Jim Frost the girls knew they needed a shutout in their third game on Sunday in order to advance to the playoffs, and boy did the girls deliver, an 8-0 shutout over the Thunder.
Onto the semi finals, another hot tough game, but the Rage was determined to advance, and beat the Wipeout 8-6. The finals were just by coincidence against Livermore a team that these girls have gone head to head with more than once.  It was hot, it was getting late, but nothing was going to get in the way of the Rage winning this tournament. The team stayed on top of Livermore throughout and won the championship title with another shutout 2-0.
Our girls were tough and determined throughout the entire weekend! Congratulations to those that played and brought the 1st place trophy back to Pleasanton!

RAGE U11 PREMIER
RAGE U11 Orange players with FC Gold Pride super-star Marta

The Rage U11 Premier girls fought till the bitter end for their first place position against the Livermore Rampage 98. It was a total team contribution and the girls battled hard throughout, forwards Rachel Rice, Jo Salinas, Megan Von Sosen, Sarah Broacha went on goal numerous times, but were shut down by the notoriously tough Rampage defense. Midfielders Hunter Vice, Bianca Stubler, Jessica Hayes, Sam Frost, Sadie Grozier, Brooke Williams and Mia Banducci did their part to move the ball forward, but the Rage could just not convert. Fortunately as good as the Rampage defense was Pleasanton’s was even better, backs Ariana Nino, Tiara Lewis, Lorna Roberts, Amy Schoendienst and Haley Okumura were stellar in silencing any Livermore attempts and keeper Juliet Allen ensured there would be absolutely no Livermore goals. These two arch rivals ended with a nil-nil game, but it was enough to keep the Rage on top! Congratulations ladies on your 6-2-0 spring season and your division title!

Members of the RAGE U12 White team focuses on JUGGLING

The RAGE U12-White team has been working extra hard to improve their juggling skills.  In November 2009 Philippe challenged the entire U12 age group to improve their juggling capabilities. As result, the team took Philippe’s challenge seriously and started focusing on meeting/exceeding his challenge. Coaches began to monitor players juggling progress by charting and recognizing players when a positive rate of improvement was achieved and when a player achieved a PR.
As a motivator for players to work extra hard to improve, Karen Martin and Nick Mangiardi created a “Rage Juggling Club” and made juggling patches to be awarded to the players. This was great, as the patches were awarded to players by Philippe.
At each training session the coaches set aside 10 minutes for players to work on juggling. During this time the coach logged/charted player’s progress and also encouraged players to practice at home.
The result of this challenge has had a huge impact on each player. The biggest impact is that players are taking this challenge at home…spending more time at home practicing their juggling. This challenge is creating good competition and motivation for players to get better. All the players have improved their juggling skills.
Since this program was implemented the rate of improvement demonstrated by each player has been phenomenal. Not all players have achieved Philippe’s challenge just yet, but they are making huge strides and they are getting closer to achieving the goal.

U9 GREY 1st PLACE IN NOR CAL PREMIER BRONZE

Click to enlargePleasanton Rage Grey U9 clinched its first-place victory in the Nor Cal Premier Bronze Girls Division with its 2-0 win on Saturday against the Montclair Soccer Club (MSC) Clippers.  The Pleasanton team, composed of first-time competitive players, ended its regular season undefeated after playing nine games.

In the first half of Saturday’s home game, combinations of Rage Grey forwards Lilly Fehrmann, Holly Judson, Karin McCarty, Leila Shafi, and Kaitlyn Sweeney, pressed hard, but came up scoreless.  Rage Grey midfielders Delaney Soble and Sarah Mirr supported the offensive play by keeping the ball in the Clippers’ half of the field.  Goalkeeper Ellen Ebbers solidified her season record of zero goals scored against her.

Fired up from a half-time break pep talk by coaches Dan Soble and Dave Judson, Rage Grey took the opening kick off.  Addyson Mapes, Shafi and Ebbers dribbled and passed up the field, taking a shot on goal that was blocked by the Clippers’ keeper, only to come loose in the penalty box where Fehrmann tapped it in for the game’s first goal.  A few minutes later, Shafi wove in and out of the defense to score the second goal.  The Clippers were determined not to let Rage Grey continue to press, but their shots never found their target through strong defensive play by second-half goalie McCarty, and defenders Eknoor Kaur, Quincy Kumfert, Julianna Pereira, and Grace Skinner.

Pleasanton Grey finishes its season with seven wins, two ties and zero losses.  The team heads to Sacramento on Nov. 14 and 15 for State Cup.

The go ahead goal was scored when Alexa Espinosa finished a corner kick with a diving header. Ashley Jenezon scored goal #3 when she sent a rocket into the far post from 15 yards out! The final goal was scored on a PK when Charlee Garcia placed the ball low and hard just out of the keepers reach. Rage’s forwards Erin O’Loughlin and Cassie Scroggins had great games by constantly pressuring the Eclipse defense, while midfielders Olivia Zhu, Megan Ash, Erin Schoendiesnt, Jillian Beck, and Marissa Victor did a fantastic job distributing the ball. The stout defense of Lindsay Rigel, Molly Rowse, Stephanie Little kept WCC’s offense at bay, while keeper Shannon Easley came up with some great saves for the win. Each player battle hard every game this season. A fantastic way to end! Congratulations to the Rage U16AC for winning league!

RAGE U11 PREMIER WINS STATE CUP

Click to EnlargeThe RAGE U11 Premier saved its most impressive performance of the year for the most important game of the year, the Nor Cal State Cup Championship held in Danville on Feb. 22. Playing in a steady rain for most of the game, the U11 Premier overwhelmed the Sacramento United Extreme with a 6-0 offensive barrage. Sophie Santos began the assault with a powerful shot from near the top of the box less than ten minutes into the match. Sami LaBella added the second goal of the afternoon moments later on a solo breakaway up the right side. Hanna Mallie made it 3 - nil later in the first half off an impressive assist from Maggie Kilday. The midfield work of Santos, Kilday, Heather Jackson, Hailey Mann and Olivia Christensen maintained ball possession for the majority of the game, while the work of the back line of Juliana Leedeman, Eilis Hegarty, Hannah McGillivray, Katlyn Franciskovich, and Kennedy Truex made the afternoon relatively uneventful for goalkeeper Sophia Brown. Though Extreme did manage to place a few shots on goal, Brown was more than up to the test each time. The second half belonged to forward Malissa Shadle, scoring a rare championship game "hat trick"- three goals, one a nice follow-up of a strong Heather Jackson shot. Mann and Carley Robertson also kept the pressure on the Extreme, keeping their back line and keeper on the defensive. Though on Injured Reserve, Brookey Villanueva braved the elements to provide encouragement and support, ensuring it was a complete team victory. "It's nice to win," head coach Nick Mangiardi told the team after the game. "But it's even nicer to have won playing good soccer."
